Shocked? Appalled? …Aroused?

At work this week I found an old worn-out binder filled with company newsletters from the seventies & early eighties. As I browsed the pages I was consistently amused by the articles, pictures & captions. Mostly because of just how inappropriate, sexist, & politically incorrect much of it is. Statements like, “A woman’s place is in the home, and she should go there as soon as she gets off work.” Or a series of pictures chronicling the different work duties of a particular employee, a petite blonde shipping clerk, the last one showing her sitting on her boss’ lap with the caption, “and don’t forget the job perks.” My favorite though is this picture from a 1974 issue; an attention-grabbing way to teach a practical use for the metric system.
