Friday Five – “State” Songs

Songs with specific state names in the title.

Tennessee Plates – John Hiatt (Which kinda counted for last weeks “Cadillac” songs.)

That’s Right (You’re Not from Texas) – Lyle Lovett (I wanted to use Good Bye to Carolina, but I couldn’t find a good link.)

Going Back to Georgia – Nanci Griffith w/Adam Duritz (again, my first choice was Deadwood, South Dakota.)

Hotel Arizona – Wilco (Coulda gone the easy route & used Hotel California, but I decided against it. This is a better song anyway.)

New York, New York – Ryan Adams (When you write as many songs as Ryan Adams does you’re bound to come up with some state names. There was also Carolina Rain & Tennessee Sucks to choose from. This acoustic version is taken from Mtv’s Music in High Places series. It loads pretty slow, but it’s totally worth it.)
